Salary: £40,000 per year with OTE of £55,000 (uncapped)

Role Overview:
As a Transport Manager, you will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our transport department. You will manage fleet servicing, MOTs, vehicle breakdowns, and maintain vehicle records in compliance with O License conditions. Additionally, you will support traffic planners, task drivers and assets to meet delivery schedules, and ensure a first-class service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Drive the Planning Team to achieve monthly and annual financial objectives. Ensure efficient budget management and cost control.
- Compliance Management: Audit and review compliance systems, manage shortcomings, and notify relevant changes per operator licence requirements.
- Legislation & Standards: Stay updated on changes in transport standards and legislation. Ensure driver qualifications and records compliance, including driver CPC qualifications.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure vehicles and trailers are roadworthy, manage safety inspections, and statutory testing within maintenance intervals.
- Operational Efficiency: Organise and maintain the efficiency of the transport service, communicate with drivers, schedule routing, and implement driver training plans.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, organise staff training and development, and work with the Senior Risk Management Team to mitigate risks and reduce accident rates across the Group.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualifications: Full UK Driver's License and CPC National holder (essential). LGV Driving License (C+E) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in transport management with a strong background in fleet compliance, maintenance, MOTs, servicing, and breakdowns.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of transport legislation and a proven track record in managing transport operations.
- Leadership: Flexible leadership style with the ability to motivate and manage staff effectively.
- Skills: Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
